Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia. This fascia is the “bowstring-like” ligamentous tissue in the sole or arch of the foot stretching from the heel to the front of the foot. This condition is typically characterized by a painful, inflammation on the bottom of the foot. Due to the pain and inflammation, most people find it difficult to walk, run, exercise, participate in athletics, or even work. Early signs of this condition can be pain in the sole of the foot once getting out of bed and taking your first steps. Without proper treatment this condition may take months to heal or become a frequent injury.

How can Chiropractic help with Plantar Fasciitis?

The chiropractors at Natural Balance Wellness Center treat the whole body not just the spine. They will evaluate foot alignment and may adjust the bones of your ankle, foot or toes. Even misalignment of the hips and knees can trigger or complicate the symptoms of plantar fasciitis. Making sure your foot, ankle, and knees are aligning properly is the key to success with this type of injury. Along with adjustments, recommendations for stretches, exercises, massage, and icing may be given.

Many cases of Plantar Fasciitis are caused not solely by one activity but a chronic loss of supporting arches of the foot. The doctors at Natural Balance Wellness Center are also trained to help you with proper orthotic support made custom for your feet. We have excellent success with these supports for conditions of the feet, knees, and low back.
