Sports Chiropractic
Dr. Matt Howard was born and raised just outside of Peoria, IL. He has always been very active in athletics which actually led him to pursue his chiropractic career. His first experience with chiropractic came after a neck injury during a high school wrestling competition. He had two bulged discs in his neck causing severe pain and muscle aches/tightness in his neck and upper back. After a few weeks of care he was able to continue a very successful season. Though temporarily out of pain, in the years following he suffered from chronic pain and tightness in his neck. For two years he suffered with this pain, until joining his college rugby team at Illinois State University. His coaches were both local chiropractors and through their treatments, even while playing such a physical sport, his pain and muscle imbalances began to alleviate. After experiencing the benefits of chiropractic for himself he decided to pursue this wonderful career at the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA.
Dr. Matt has a great family practice treating patients of all backgrounds, ages, and activity levels. He has had extra training in Flexion Distraction for low back conditions, extremity adjusting for common issues beyond the spine, nutrition and whole food supplementation, Soft tissue and trigger point therapy, as well as chiropractic rehab therapy.
Dr. Matt has a great interest in helping young athletes and fitness enthusiasts seeking care for injuries. He truly believes every young athlete, especially those in contact sports like wrestling, football, rugby, or martial arts should be visiting a chiropractor in their area.
He sincerely loves what he does, and enjoys interacting with all of his great patients.
LICENSED CHIROPRACTOR
Dr. Sara Howard has always known that she wanted to help people feel better and live healthier lives. She chose to be a chiropractor after being helped so much by a chiropractor herself. Dr. Sara started seeing the benefits of chiropractic after suffering from severe headaches and upper back pain caused by a car accident. After a few adjustments her headaches were completely gone and her back pain continually improved with each consecutive adjustment.
Dr. Sara double majored in Human Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic. After graduating from chiropractic school, she continued her education in holistic health care by learning acupuncture, Chinese herbs and functional medicine. While Dr. Sara treats patients of all ages, she has specialty training in pregnancy chiropractic and pediatric chiropractic receiving her certification from the Academy of Chiropractic Family Practice through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Associations. Dr. Sara is also certified in the Webster Technique which yields great results for aligning the pelvic bones during pregnancy. She also has advanced training in extremity adjustments, craniosacral therapy, nutrition and wellness care. She has advanced training in identification and treatment of oral restrictions such as lip and tongue ties. As a pediatric chiropractor, member of the International Association of Tongue Tie Professionals and breastfeeding mom of two children that had restrictions, she has a true passion to help parents achieve their personal goals.
Her goal is to teach as many people as possible about how they can live better physically, mentally and socially with holistic health care. Dr. Sara uses a “whole person approach” in treating her patients. This approach to wellness means looking for underlying causes of disturbance or disruption.
